July 22, 2002 Citation Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Daytona Beach International (DAB) At about 6PM Local time a Cessna Citation C650 Jet declares an emergency near Daytona Beach. Suffering from a Dual Static Loss while in IFR conditions OPTIONS381 makes an emergency landing at DAB. I missed the first parts of the emergency so I'm not sure what altitude this started however DAB controllers vectored the Citation out over the Atlantic to so he could descend into VFR conditions. With a static system failure the Citation had no working airspeed indicator or altimeter, a scary thought when trapped in IFR conditions. I didn't catch the beginning of the emergency, the recording begins after the Citation Jet makes an emergency decent down to approximately 2,500 AGL. You'll hear the controller call out ground speeds as shown on radar during his approach to Runway 25R at DAB. Click Here for the full 8 minute recording. Below is a picture of a Cessna Citation C650.
