Independence Day What a JOKE! You have no Independence!
Ok here it is another Independence Day and another day we’re more
DEPENDANT on our government. I’ve come to the conclusion that "Americans"
don’t really want Independence and the proof of this is overwhelming.
I’m getting tired of watching people wave flags and "mouth" phrases
of "love for freedom" and "independence" while in reality it may
well be the last thing they want in their lives.
We live in an entitlement era. It seems as if everyone has a long list of things
to which they are entitled. Americans think they have a "right" to a job,
a place to live, a living wage (what ever that is), and to be free from having to
endure anything that might offend their delicate sensitivities. Independence Day?
That’s the last thing that many, even most "Americans" want. We’re building
a dependency culture, NOT AN INDEPENDENT ONE!
The average "American" has abandoned the idea of freedom and self reliance.
The average "American" would rather have the government provide everything and
be "dependant" on the government.
Look at what happened in 1776. We declared our independence from an overbearing, highly
dictatorial, and a highly taxing government. But what do we have here in 2003? Did you
know that today you pay a higher percentage of your wages to the government in the form
of taxes than your forefathers(1) did before 1776? Did you know that your government of
today places MORE restrictions on what you can do in your home than back prior to 1776?
Did you know that when adding Federal, State, County, Local City, Sales, Gas(2),
Tobacco(3), Motel, Utility(4), and the 1,000’s of other taxes that you are paying
OVER 50% of your income in taxes of one kind or another? Did you know that it
was a much lower percentage of taxation which sparked the Boston Tea Party?
I want you to write a letter to your congressman and your senators. I want you to
tell them that you really got to do some thinking while watching people working on
their melanomas on the beach, and you want the government to do one last thing for
you. You want the government to cut you loose!
Tell your congressman that you want to be free to establish your own relationship
with your employer. No minimum wages. No mandated benefits. You want to negotiate
your own employment contract with your employer, and the only thing you want the
government to do is to help you enforce it through the courts if your boss starts
screwing around.
Tell your elected officials that you do not believe that you have the right to
health care. Tell them that you do not wish to use the police power of government
to force someone else to provide you with medications or medical services.
Write that you are perfectly willing to assume the total and complete responsibility
for acquiring your own health insurance, all you want them to do is eliminate the
mandates and allow you to shop for just the coverage you desire. Be sure to add that
in the event you get sick without insurance, or you can’t cover the costs, you
absolutely do not want the government to step in and spend one dime of someone
else’s money on your care (5). Hell the way it setup now the government and/or
insurance company can mandate where you need to go to have your toe nails cut!
And you call this "Independence"?
Tell them that you want an end to Social Security. You want out. You will
be responsible for setting up your retirement plan and you will be willing to
suffer the consequences in old age if you fail to do so. Tell your representatives
that in a free society the government shouldn’t take money from people who are
now working just to give it to people who are not!
Maybe you will want to tell your senators and congressman that you have no interest
what other people do in the privacy of their own homes.
Inform your representatives that you want to be free to make your own consumer
choices, and that includes choices of which professional you want to use for
medical and legal services. Tell them that you are perfectly willing to rely
on your own judgment, or the judgment of private accrediting agencies when it
comes to selecting an attorney or a doctor. You might add that you don’t like
the idea that you have to go to the government to ask who may and who may not
clip your fingernails.
When you have written that letter…..then you can go out and proclaim your love of freedom!
After you’ve read this you might want to take a look at
Letter to Ashcroft.
Footnotes:
- I will use the term forefathers even though that in today’s schools it is an unacceptable term. Did you know that text book companies have been instructed to change the word forefathers to forepeople?
- Did you know that in most states over 33% of a cost of a gallon of gas is nothing but TAXES!
- Did you know that the United States government makes more PROFIT from the sale of a pack of cigarettes than the Cigarette Company?
- Did you know that there is a tax you are still paying on your telephone bill that is to fund the Spanish-American war? It’s there, really, look it up!
- Why sould I pay (in the form of taxes) to care for another person who didn’t use their God given talents to be responsible for their own health care, what should my money go to care from them??
