November 2001 Daytona Beach Airshow
US Airforce Thunderbirds

Many people don't have the chance to take a scanner to an airshow and listen to the Thunderbirds during an airshow. And the people who do find a heard time hearing their scanner due to the sounds of 6 F16 jets flying across the sky.

During the Sunday, November 11, 2001 Thunderbird show I had setup a scanner and recorder so catch all the excitement of the Thunderbirds. Now with a fairly clean and noise free tape I've create a series of WAV files which you can download and play on your computer. Since the entire series of comms lasted about 45 minutes, I had deleted the long spaces of no comms to shorten up the wav file. Before I done any editing the original WAV file was over 57Meg long, now the entire show is about 32Meg long. I have broken up the entire show into 5 files, about 5 minutes of acutal audio per file. You can download these below.

I also created about 1 minute of the funniest comms during the show. Being only 1.5Meg these will play quickly and give you a sample of what the Thunderbirds talk about while waiting on the runway. The last half (actual singing) is while they were holding over Daytona waiting for the exact time to be at show center. Click Here to Hear the Thunderbirds
