Fleet Area Control & Surveillance Facility (FACSFAC) Vacapes, VA
To ensure the most efficient use of the sea and airspace in selected Fleet Operating
Areas the Navy established Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facilities. The FACSFAC
Vacapes, VA is the agency which oversees flights and operations for Warning Areas and restricted
areas from VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, and MA. FACSFAC
Vacapes, VA call sign is "Giantkiller". If you live an any of the above states plus Eastern Pennsylvania you
will hear activity on these frequencies. I would from time to time hear Giantkiller while living
in Lancaster PA using nothing more than an Indoor Discone. Will staying at our beach house in Ocean City, MD
these frequencies were very active.
