Iraq War Frequency Info. iraq military hf frequencies

With war in Iraq I've assembled some information which will help you tune into the action as it breaks out in Iraq. This will include Military HF freqs, Aero HF freqs and Shortwave Broadcast schedules of interest. Many of the frequencies can be heard with out the need of an expensive setup. However if you're thinking of buying a shortwave receiver please remember one thing, you want one that can receive "SideBand". This includes USB and LSB. Many of the "cheap" shortwave radios can only pickup AM. Please as your dealer if the radio you're about to buy is capable of receiving USB. Nearly all Military traffic which you can receive will be USB. Shortwave Broadcasts will be AM.

Don't forget to keep checking VHF/UHF freqs in your local area. See other sections of this website for local VHF/UHF freqs. With the war there will be an increase in training in your local ranges, warning areas and MOA's. Not to mention an increase in MilAir simply going to and from training missions or overseas. I would dedicate a bank of your scanner freqs to the ARTCC freqs in your area. These can be found on our ARTCC Clickable Map

Major World Air Route Areas These are the World Wide Air Traffic Controlers. This page contains maps and frequencies for the areas of interest during the Iraq war. Note - These frequencies are generally used by Civil Commerical Aircraft world wide however our military aircraft have been heard talking with various US and Foreign Air Traffic Controlers. Since English is the international language for pilots you'll mostly english on these freqs.

USAF HF Global Communications System (The old GHFS Net) This will be your easiest catch of Military Communications. 11.175 MHz being the most active freq. This is a system of 15 HF stations providing communications for US Miliatry Aircraft and Ships.

Shortwave Broadcast Freqs & Schedules of War Interests. Hear what other countries think about the war. Hear news directly from the effected areas. On 3/18/03 I copied Radio Kuwait issuing instructions every 15 minutes on what to do in the event of a Chem or Bio attach. To hear this for real makes you realize that this is for real!

Commando Solo C-130 Airborn Radio/TV Station Here are frequencies, times, and information about the EC-130C Commando Solo flights over Iraq. During the Afgan war the Commando Solo broadcasts were easily received here in the US. New Freq added by Commando Solo on 3/28!

Selection of Maps of Iraq Know exactly where the citys, airports, rivers, and roads are. We have road maps, as well as Aeronautical charts of the area. With these maps you can get a much better sense of where our troops are or where they are experiencing resistance. Great aid for when listening to news on TV or Shortwave!

Iraq Live Video Feeds Get Live feeds directly from CNN's Camarea and the famous Al Jazeera News Network. As I get more links I'll add them to this page. Keep checking often.
