What is Fleet Area Control & Surveillance Facility (FACFAC)

Many people ask the question, "where can I hear some MilAir action?". FACSFAC frequencies are some of the more active frequencies in the MilAir bands. They are the controllers of many of the "Warning areas" along the US coastal waters and Restricted Areas as well as MOA's (Military Operations Areas) near the Coast. What you will hear on these frequencies are Military aircraft flying through these area. Also you'll hear aircraft requesting "Blocks" of airspace from the FACSFAC controller (SEALOAD for Jacksonville Area). Usually if you hear someone request a "Block", next you'll hear them switch to a discrete air-air frequency (also listed on www.MilAirComms.com) then you'll hear an ACM (Air Combat Maneuvering) training mission begin.
